About Ricardo
Ricky Mendez started at CommuniCare+OLE in 2023. He received his Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Emory University School of Medicine in 2016. Prior to joining CommuniCare+OLE, Ricky practiced as an urgent care and street medicine provider at Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center and in the hospital setting; recently completing an Acute Care/Trauma Surgery Physician Assistant Residency Program at UCSF-Fresno in 2021. He specializes in acute and chronic care, mobile health, preventative medicine, and working with underserved populations.
My approach to care
My approach to care is centered around the patient. I strive to connect with patients, gain insight into their unique lives, and create treatment plans through active collaboration and shared decision making. I believe that everyone deserves access to high quality health care.
Why I went into healthcare
I became a physician assistant to help individuals achieve their optimal health goals and for the joy of working in solidarity with communities.
Something you might not know about me
I was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, just minutes before my identical twin. I enjoy spending time outdoors (backpacking, gardening, fishing, biking), cooking, exploring music, and time with family and friends.
