My approach to care

My care approach centers around my personal belief that we all have at least one thing in common with one another. My goal as a provider is to find one thing that we can talk freely and casually about and build a relationship of trust and familiarity from there. I don’t want to be seen as just your provider, but as your friend or family member.

Why I went into healthcare

I became a PA because even though I grew up in a big city (Charlotte, NC), I grew up on the west side which is predominately Black and Brown and therefore underserved. I noticed how my neighborhood didn’t have sidewalks so we couldn’t play outside safely. I noticed how the shopping centers were littered with tobacco shops and fast-food chains. I also noticed how we had to travel into the city to see a provider whereas more affluent parts of town had hospitals and urgent cares at their disposal. Why weren’t we afforded the same luxuries as those in a different zip code? I knew that I had to be the change that I wanted to see. Being a PA allows me the opportunity to look like people of these communities, hear their stories, and bring about change.

Something you might not know about me

Something you might not know about me is that I am a Seattle Seahawks fan. I know living in the Bay Area this is something I should probably keep to myself but if you hang around me long enough, you’d figure it out anyway. Go Hawks!
