She then completed a Masters in Public Health at University of California, Davis in 2006. She received her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology with a Minor in History from University of California, Davis in 1996. Prior to entering medical school, she worked at the Davis Community Clinic as Community Health Worker, then became their Lab Operation Manager. There she participated in Health Fairs at rural Migrant Camps, providing immunizations for migrant children to enter school and HIV and TB screening and contraception counseling for adult workers. This solidified her desire to practice Family Medicine in a Community Health Center. Dr. Jen currently provides full scope primary health care to our most vulnerable community members. Her clinical interests include community-oriented preventative care and chronic disease management. She is ACEs Aware certified and uses a trauma-informed approach.

My approach to care

My care philosophy is meeting my patients where they are at. I believe my role is to educate and offer a buffet of options patients can choose from based on their cultural beliefs and personal desires. I remind my patients that my expertise is translating the science of medicine, and their expertise is knowing their body. I believe the art of medicine is knowing the appropriate options to put on the buffet.

Why I went into healthcare

I became a Family Medicine provider because I wanted to offer full scope primary care across the entire age spectrum, in the context of a family unit. I participate in newborn rounding in the hospital, I provide preventative care for children and adolescents, reproductive health care, transgender care, chronic disease management, medication assisted treatment and advanced-care planning. I also perform minor procedures. I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with my patients and their families.

Something you might not know about me

I love traveling, backpacking, paddle boarding, and spending time in my garden. I have one husband, two children and five chickens.
