Download this Family Preparedness Packet which provides guidelines to develop an action plan for your family, including assigning a caregiver for your children in the case of any detainment. The packet also provides additional legal resources as well as information on what your rights are during an encounter with immigration officials.

Workplace rights

• Law states that when ICE goes to a place of business for the first time and requests to audit employee information (do an “inspection”), they must give a three day notice
• Exception to this is if they have a subpoena or warrant
• The process through which these inspections happen is outlined here: https://www.ice.gov/factsheets/i9-inspection
• ICE is not allowed to enter areas of a business that are not public, unless they have a warrant (typically marked “Employees Only”)
• Business owners and managers should establish who has the right to give ICE consent to enter areas that are not public
• Business owners should inform their employees that they have the right to remain silent and not provide information to ICE (as indicated in the red card)
