Hours: Full time; Monday to Friday from 8am -5pm

Location: Napa, CA

Salary Range:$28.5000 To 32.1600 Hourly

JOB SUMMARY: The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) will perform a wide range of duties in the dental clinic and dental office.  Tasks primarily (although not limited to) involve all duties of a Dental Assistant along with providing prophylaxis polishes to children and only coronal polishes to adults as delegated by dentist(s).  The RDA, will have direct contact with patients, work under the direct supervision of a dentist, work closely with the front office clerical staff, and report to the Dental Services Manager.

 

KNOWLEDGE OF WORK

Ability to perform all phases of four (4) handed Dental Assisting duties for endodontics, oral surgery, pedodontics, prosthodontics and restorative procedures
Knowledge of Microsoft Office; electronic health record system required
Knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Centers

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

At the direction of the dentist, complete x-rays and intra-oral pictures of patients as appropriate
Escorting patients to the dental chair and prepare them for dental treatment and prepare tray set-up for dental procedures
Dismiss patients when treatment is completed and schedule or change appointments as directed
Perform daily, weekly and/or monthly maintenance on dental equipment
Provide diagnostic aids such as radiographs, medical and dental histories, and study models
Perform coronal polishing or additional expanded function duties as delegated by the dentist and allowed by California law
Clean, sterilize, and disinfect operatory instruments in accordance with department’s policy and OSHA guidelines
Follow policy and procedures including universal precautions as defined by OSHA’s guidelines on Bloodborne Pathogens and Hazardous Materials standards
Educate and instruct patients on issues pertaining to treatment as delegated by dentists
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance to department policy and HIPPA guidelines
Record patient exam information and progress notes onto dental chart as directed by the dentist

(Includes, but is not limited to:  Blood pressure if taken x-rays taken, weight if taken, etc.)

Attend and participate in required meetings, training and educational programs, assist in the hiring process of back office staff and perform annual staff evaluations
Assist clinic manager in quality improvement initiatives, data collection, and other projects as assigned
Assist in leading team huddles
Perform other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  1. One-year certificate from college or technical school; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Successful completion of COMDA/State practical and written examinations, including Board approved courses in coronal polishing and radiation safety license. (Must have certificate and pocket identification card/license issued by COMDA.).
  3. Radiation Safety (x-ray) License required.
  4. Coronal Polish License required.
  5. Registered Dental Assistant license required.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills; Bilingual (English/Spanish) language preferred.
  7. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required.
