Hours: Full time; Monday to Friday from 8am -5pm

Salary Range:$26.56 To 29.51 Hourly

JOB SUMMARY: The Dental Assistant is responsible for performing a wide variety of duties in the dental clinic under the direct supervision of a dentist, primarily including chair side assisting duties, infection control, x-rays and dental treatment education to patients.

 

KNOWLEDGE OF WORK

Knowledge of all phases of four (4) handed Dental Assisting duties for endodontics, oral surgery, pedodontics, prosthodontics and restorative procedures
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and data entry; electronic health record system required
Knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Centers

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Escorts patients to and from dental chair.  Educates and instructs patients on issues pertaining to treatment as delegated by dentist
Prepares tray set-up for dental procedures and provide diagnostic aids such as radiographs, medical and dental histories, and study models
Assists dentist during treatment by handling dentist instruments and materials
Records patient information and progress notes onto dental chart as directed by dentist
Cleans and disinfects operatory and sterilize instruments in accordance with department policy and OSHA guidelines
Takes digital x-rays as delegated by dentist
Maintains inventory and order supplies as needed
Performs other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  2. Previous Dental Assistant or related experience preferred.
  3. Must certify and remain current in CPR.
  4. Radiation Safety Certificate required.
  5. 8-hour Infection Control course required.
  6. Valid Driver’s license required.
  7. Strong verbal and written communication required; Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  8. Strong interpersonal and customer service required; must have ability to handle difficult patients.
